Is anything grander than holding a newborn grandchild, healthy, content, sleeping soundly, safe in your arms? The months of waiting now over and the labor of delivery already being forgotten in the realization of the anticipated birth. God certainly knows how to start people!

Scripture reminds us that we share in the reputations of our friends. "He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed" (Proverbs 13:20).

One of the prime dangers for Christians today is getting so busy that they lose their spiritual focus. Especially as the pace of society hastens, this is a real danger to spiritual growth!

What is good about the fish dying, you say? Just this: it is another sign that the rule of Christ on the earth in the Kingdom of God is soon to begin! "Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near" (Luke 21:28).

The honeybees are still hanging on inside the wall of our old farmhouse. I pray they will survive. But if the trend continues, they will all soon be dead, and all or most of their kind will be no more.
