While the world focuses on the wars in Ukraine and Gaza, Sudan’s ongoing civil war continues to wreak destruction. Resistance forces have now attacked refugee camps in Sudan’s western Darfur region. “The consequences for Sudan’s 51 million people have been devastating. Tens of thousands are reportedly dead. Hundreds of thousands face famine.

How many of us take birds for granted? When they are near, we hear their singing and notice them flitting about. When they migrate away for the season, we seldom notice their absence. Yet many birds migrate thousands of miles (or kilometers) twice a year—returning to the exact location they left six months earlier.

Marriage rates are falling in many Western nations. And within those nations, many who eventually choose to marry have already lived together before marriage. A common thought is that cohabitation before marriage will help one discover if this is the right partner for life—so the eventual marriage will be more successful. But is this really true?

New research from Israel declares, “Children who are breastfed for longer periods of time during infancy experience fewer developmental delays and a reduced risk of neurodevelopmental conditions, including disorders like autism and ADHD” (StudyFinds, March 24, 2025).

In newly released guidelines, the EU Commission has warned citizens to begin amassing food and water to last for at least three days (CNN, March 26, 2025). The 18-page document aims to help EU citizens shift their mindset to one of resilience and preparedness and cites the war in Ukraine, the 2020 pandemic, and supply-chain shortages as examples of large-scale crises.
