Israel’s recent attack on Hamas officials in Qatar has prompted a united Arab response (RTE, September 10, 2025). The Arab nations often possess competing agendas, but this attack and Israel’s subsequent threat to strike Hamas “anywhere” may be prompting increased coordination.
In recent years, girls have significantly outperformed boys on national exams in the United Kingdom (Herald Series, August 15, 2025). On the 2024 GCSE exam, for example, almost 25 percent of girls earned a grade 7/A or higher, versus only 19 percent of boys.
Russia may be preparing to resume nuclear weapons testing for the first time since 1990. Senior Russian officials, including lawmakers and military leaders, have visited the Novaya Zemlya test site—a Cold War-era facility where the Soviet Union conducted more than 130 nuclear tests. Novaya Zemlya was the site of the Tsar Bomba detonation in 1961—the most powerful nuclear explosion ever recorded.
