Speaking to politicians in his own party, former French President Nicolas Sarkozy stated that the euro “will no longer work if the French-German leadership is not ready to exercise, not its right, but its duty to lead the euro” (Libération, July 8, 2013). He warned, “If the euro explodes, Europe will explode, and if Europe explodes, then you cannot maintain peace” (ibid.).

Bestiality is becoming an emerging issue.  In Sweden hundreds of animals are injured each year from sexual attacks (Expressen.se, January 19, 2004).  In Germany this practice is increasing, partly due to a loophole in animal protection laws (DailyMail, July 1, 2013).

Mexico’s recent local and state elections have been called “the most violent in recent history” (Huffington Post, July 15, 2013).

Recent chaos in Egypt has left Western leaders at a loss. But, Egypt’s neighbors are using it to gain influence in the region. “Saudi Arabia was one of the first countries to congratulate Egypt after its army ousted President Mohammed Mursi and dissolved the Islamist-made constitution.

Acceleration is part of modern life. “The process of mechanical acceleration began in the 19th century in conjunction with industrialization” and was intended to “create more available time for the individual” by shortening the amount of time needed to accomplish tasks (Der Spiegel, July 4, 2013).
