Deadly Flooding in Mozambique

Just over six weeks ago, Cyclone Idai slammed into the east African nations of Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Malawi (The Guardian, March 27, 2019). The cyclone displaced “hundreds of thousands of people” while “flooding an area of 3,000 sq km” and killing more than 1,000 people. Cholera is now rampant.

Total Unconditional Surrender

On This Date, a book authored by Carl M. Cannon, has a timely bit of American history relevant for any Christian observing the Passover.

It was on the day before the Passover, April 9, 1865, that Robert E. Lee told his aide, “The time had come for capitulation”—for surrender. His aide, Colonel Walter Herron Taylor, replied that any other fate would be preferable.

Lessons from My Grandfather's Cistern

And what will be the result of a new arms race between China, Russia, the United States and other nations? Who will dominate the rest of the 21st century? And perhaps we should ask a slightly more unexpected question: Is Europe preparing for War?

Can You Imagine?

“I Can Only Imagine” is the best selling Christian single of all time. Since the song’s original release in 1999, it has sold over 2.5 million copies. With a boost from the movie telling the origins of the song, starring Michael Finley as Bart Millard (the song’s writer and singer) and Dennis Quaid as Bart’s father, it has now sold in excess of two and a half million digital downloads as well.
