A Beneficial Friendship

“Would you like to come over to my house for lunch and to watch the Broncos?” Because I was a young single man living on my own, my friend knew I would be alone that Sunday, as would she. Sharing our love of food and football would be a good way for us to spend the afternoon.

This was only one such occasion I enjoyed with this friend over the course of many years, beginning when I was a young teen. She was from my small local church congregation, and I had developed a good relationship with her through the years.

What If I Don’t Want Christ to Return?

What do you think of Jesus Christ’s return? Do you try not to think about it because you are young and want to live a full life? I get it. I thought the same when I was twelve years old.

Listen with a Discerning Ear

One of my favorite memories as a guitarist in a band is looking out at a crowded dance floor while playing an upbeat tune. I vividly remember the euphoric feeling of oneness with everyone in the room, many of them complete strangers, united by the rhythm and energy of the songs we were playing. This is one example of the power of music.

Iron Sharpens Iron

What traits do you look for in a friend? Is how a person looks most important to you? Is it because you consider people "cool" because of how they behave or dress? Or, do you give more importance to the person's character and qualities, and their influence on your life?

From Belief to Faith

I was recently challenged with a good question from a teen: What is the difference between believing and faith? On the face of it, it appears that the two concepts could be the same, and for many people they are. It was a helpful question for me personally because it caused me to analyze the two ideas more closely. While in many applications the two words can be used interchangeably, there is one important distinction that is revealed in God's word.
