The Precipice

It is truly shocking that behavior that has been universally recognized in society as a perversion is now being promoted by the Chief Executive of the United States of America. In recent years, this lifestyle has been becoming acceptable to mainstream society under the barrage of favorable media coverage and the promotion by the entertainment cabal. Even the United States military has dropped resistance to this behavior, in effect legalizing sodomy in the military. Several states now recognize “same sex marriage” and “civil unions” as legal with all the benefits that accrue to a married couple under the law.

The Bible plainly addresses the subject of sexuality, both heterosexual and homosexual. The seventh of the Ten Commandments given by God is simple and direct: “You shall not commit adultery” (Exodus 20:14). Jesus Christ reaffirmed and magnified this commandment in Matthew 5:27–28. Homosexual acts were prohibited in the Old Testament. See Leviticus 18:22-25. God actually destroyed the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah because of their profligate deviate sexual practices.

These perverse sexual activities continued to persist down through time, often as part of pagan religious practices. In the New Testament the Apostle Paul addressed this behavior in his letter to the Church of God in Rome. Describing those who knowingly turned away from Godly behavior to pursue their own desires he wrote, “…For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting…” (Romans 1:24–29).

Later in Paul’s letter to the Church in Corinth he wrote, “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God” (1 Corinthians 6:9–10).

There can be no misunderstanding that the behavior now being promoted at the highest levels of our society is soundly condemned by God in both the Old and New Testaments.

Long ago the prophet Isaiah was inspired to write, “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness…” (Isaiah 5:20–21).

As a nation, we are on a precipice, meaning a situation of great peril. We have been a great nation at the height of power on the world scene. Now we are puffed up to great heights by pride. Can a nation long stand that embraces and promotes sinful, perverted behavior as a civil right? “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall” (Proverbs 16:18).

And great will be that fall!

We pray for our nation and our leaders to return to the Biblical values upon which the country was founded. Frankly, this is not likely to happen, so we cry out to God to bring about His Kingdom on this earth. It is the purpose of this Work to announce that coming Kingdom.
