Last week, The Guardian reported that North Korea “fired a volley of what appeared to be land-to-ship missiles, hours after a senior U.S. official said the regime’s recent advances in missile technology were causing ‘great concern’ in Washington… They flew an estimated 200km and were intended to demonstrate the North’s ability to target a large enemy warship, the South Korean military said” (June 7, 2017). The missiles landed in the Sea of Japan in an area that two U.S. aircraft carriers visited earlier in the week. This was the fourth missile launch by North Korea in a month. The same article highlights that at the end of May, North Korea launched a mid-range missile that landed in Japan’s maritime economic zone. These displays of militaristic activity by North Korea have raised concerns in surrounding nations. This rogue nation seems to have no qualms about pushing its neighbors toward war.
Ancient Bible prophecies foresaw such a time. Almost 2,000 years ago, Jesus Christ warned about events at the end of the age: “And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet” (Matthew 24:6). As we approach the end of the age, we will see increasing “rumors of wars” as the threat of military action spreads around the world. The situation with North Korea is only one of many more hostile situations to come. To learn more about future global confrontations, read or listen to “Coming End-Time Conflicts.”
