Abortion and Deception

A staggering 14.4 million abortions occurred worldwide in the first four months of 2021 according to WorldOMeters.info—a respected Internet statistics source (May 4, 2021). This means that the combined number of deaths in the same period from the seasonal flu, HIV/AIDS, cancer, malaria, smoking, alcohol, suicide, and traffic accidents (roughly 7 million) wasn’t enough to reach half of the devastation wrought by the widespread availability of abortion.

Planned Parenthood, an institution known for its pro-abortion stance, has stated that one in four American women will have an abortion by the age of 45. Today, abortion is promoted as a personal choice that supports the individual “right” to have nonmarital sex with no consequences. However, the law of God, written in the pages of the Holy Bible, states unequivocally that murder—including infanticide—is a sin and that the world is enslaved by sin.

Humanity, not wanting to be subject to the all-powerful Creator and Lawgiver (Romans 8:7), has been deceived by Satan, the devil and the true god of this world (Revelation 12:9; 2 Corinthians 4:4). Most of the world is unknowingly worshiping Satan the devil and following his way of self-rule, deciding for themselves what is right and what is wrong—with tragic results. When Satan lied to the first human beings and told them, “You will not surely die.… your eyes will be opened” (Genesis 3:4­–5), he was essentially telling them that there is no penalty or downside to breaking God’s laws.

Abortion is only one example of how the world breaks those laws—and it brings consequences. What most people do not understand is that Satan, the “god of this age” (2 Corinthians 4:3–4), has always promoted child sacrifice. Abortion is only the modern and accepted manifestation of that ancient and abhorrent practice.

The eternal God, who created everything we see and know, established laws that make His creation work. We delight in discovering aspects of those laws that make our lives easier, make our machines more powerful, and improve our physical health. But we seem to absolutely reject any idea that God has established laws for the good of our relationships, our families, our mental health, and our peace. We want newer and better ways to do things, but don’t want to be told what to do. Therefore, the current state of the planet—as shown in the statistics above—is what we have chosen. After approximately 6,000 years of recorded history, this is the best we can do—deciding that 42 percent of all deaths should be from killing the unborn. Does that make any sense?

God created this beautiful and utterly amazing physical universe as a wonderful place for us to live. He alone knows how He did that and how His creation works. We are learning and discovering more about it all the time—but we still know so very little. The more we learn about, respect, and harness His physical laws, such as gravity, thermodynamics, and aerodynamics, the better everything we do and make works. There are also laws that govern human morality, relationships, families, communities, trade, and international relationships. These laws also free us and help us accomplish success. They are not a burden!

We all have been offered a choice: We can continue following this world’s god and his present course of hatred, rivalry, war, disease, and wholesale murder, or we can choose the way of true love and peace offered by the One who created everything that is—because He knows how it really works and how to have real success.
